Stabilizing the power grid with 5G
We’re thrilled to announce that CIOC, in collaboration with Orange Belgium and Commsquare, has been awarded a prestigious grant under the Belgian federal government’s 2024 5G pilot program from Telecom minister Petra De Sutter
Our project, ENERGIE (Effective Network Stabilization and Energy Resource Management with Advanced Innovative Edge-Computing), explores how cutting-edge 5G technology can revolutionize energy grid stabilization and enable industrial collaboration through shared edge-cloud resources.
This initiative embodies our commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions while driving innovation in the 5G ecosystem. By integrating our state-of-the-art Energy Management System (EMS) with 5G, we aim to enhance grid stability, optimize energy usage, and uncover new business models for industrial 5G applications.
Key Goals of the ENERGIE Project:
- Grid Stability: Leverage 5G’s low latency and network slicing to ensure real-time, secure energy management.
- Cost-Effective IoT Connectivity: Explore ways to reduce costs while maintaining performance and reliability.
- Collaborative Edge Computing: Share underutilized edge resources across industries to unlock new value streams.
- New Business Models: Investigate scalable solutions for 5G monetization that benefit operators and users alike.
This grant fuels our ambition to accelerate the green transition and create an industrial blueprint for 5G adoption. Stay tuned for updates as we embark on this transformative journey!
Together, let’s build a smarter, greener, and more connected future. 🌱⚡📡
